Rednote Translate & Rednote Translator
How To Download the Rednote App
You can search for the app using its Americanized name (REDnote) or its Chinese name (Xiaohongshu). The Chinese characters 小红书 should appear in the search results. From there, just click download, and you’re all set.

Create Account
After downloading the app, you'll be prompted to create an account using either your email address or phone number. (If you're registering with a phone number, make sure to select your country so the correct country code is included.) Once you've entered your details, you'll receive a confirmation code to verify your contact information, followed by a puzzle to confirm you're not a robot. Next, you'll be asked to select your interests, which will likely help the app's algorithm suggest content tailored to you. Finally, you'll set up your profile, which includes adding a bio and profile picture. Unfortunately, many users have reported issues receiving verification codes, and as of January 13, the cause of the problem remains unclear. Her Campus reached out to REDnote for clarification but did not receive a response before publication. Some users on platforms like TikTok and X have shared that they were able to receive their codes after waiting anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. While this is not an ideal solution, it may work for now.
Set Language to English
If you're a native English speaker, this is an essential step! To change your language settings to English, simply click on the gear icon in your profile (located next to the "edit profile" button), select "languages," and then choose English. This will translate parts of the app into English, although some areas may still remain in Chinese. Given the growing number of new users, it's likely that more comprehensive translation options will be available soon. In the meantime, Krystn Walmsley, a TikTok and REDnote creator, has shared some useful tips for using your phone to translate the content you see on your screen.
